When I Grow Up

Approaching the US 2024 election, I made this in response to my increasing anxiety and fear of the governing bodies that intended to reinstate laws to control a woman’s bodily autonomy. This work communicates how the abortion ban objectifies a woman’s body into a mere vessel solely for child bearing. Her dramatic pose is meant to mimic hanging meat like in a butcher shop. I printed on opened envelopes and included postage stamps on the woman to further demonstrate her body reduced to a vessel. Final print edition 5/16; 9 color layers Screen Print
