Walteria Elementary School Mural
I painted this 30ft by 16ft mural for my Eagle Scout Project at Walteria Elementary School. I carried out the mural in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, so I wanted to create something that inspires joy and community for the students to return to when school opened again. The mural depicts a tree with individually colored handprints for leaves, standing in the center of a colorful naturescape: each hand represents an individual, and together they form one tree. I was able to fundraise over $1200 in donations and managed 20 volunteers to execute the mural. I learned that the wall I painted on had remained bare for the past 30 years after a resident living across the street came to compliment my work and show me the photos he took over the five day process.
